"DOPA CREDITS"
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires that owner or the person (designated by the owner) who has operational responsibilities of the concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO) located in the dairy outreach program area (DOPA) must:
    *  Complete an initial 8-hour training course on animal waste management within 12 months after permitting or authorization.
    *  Receive an additional 8 hours of continuing education in animal waste management for each subsequent 24-month period.

The DOPA area includes Bosque, Comanche, Erath, Hamilton, Hopkins, Johnson, Rains, and Wood counties.

The Environmental Quality Management of Animal Feeding Operations Curriculum is comprised of 10 modules.  Successful completion by correctly answering all test questions for each module provides one hour of initial or continuing education training required by the TCEQ.

The goal of this curriculum is to increase the knowledge base of course participants in environmental quality management of animal feeding operations.  The Curriculum includes lessons that provide research based on objective education and information on effective manure, mortality, and process generated wastewater management from livestock and poultry operations to protect air and water quality.  The course participants will learn about the various animal waste handling, storage, treatment and utilization processes and systems, best management practices and available technologies to reduce air and water pollution from animal feeding operations.
