COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this class is to review the hospital's policy on risk management and the risk management program at TGH for management staff.  This will provide the framework to explore the various ways a new manager would use this information in the performance of their duties.  Also discussed; risk management's role in patient safety, risk identification, legal process, reportable events, documentation and using chain of command.

OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this class, the participant will be able to:
> Explain the Risk Management Program at TGH
> Identify the components of risk management; risk identification, risk control, and risk transfer
> Execute processes for 'reportable events' and participating in the root cause analysis
> Implement the Patient Safety Program for you area of responsibility and medical errors
> Explain claims against health care workers
> Implement appropriate documentation related to risk reduction and using chain of command
