Neonatal Resuscitation Program  Provider & Renewal  (2009)
This program is ONLY for TGH Employees.

TGH Staff:  PRIOR TO COURSE REGISTRATION or PARTICIPATION: Please confirm your class attendance with Supervisor, Manager, Director, or VP.

ONLY Antepartum, Postpartum, and Labor & Delivery TGH staff may register and take these classes. NICU and Nursery TGH staff MUST take the courses offered through the NICU.

COURSE TITLE:  
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Renewal and Provider - 2009

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  
Neonatal Resuscitation RENEWAL class (begins at 0900) is for participants who have previously passed a full day Provider course and/or a renewal course and have a current NRP card (NOT expired).

The PROVIDER class (begins at 0800) is for staff who have previously passed a full day Provider course and/or a Renewal course BUT currently have an expired NRP card. This class is NOT intended for staff who has never taken NRP previously.

***Required Preparation: ALL participants need access to the NRP Textbook - 5th Edition and DVD to prepare/review PRIOR to the class date. Please answer the questions to the written assessments, at the end of each chapter in the book, that you are required to complete based on your clinical area. You MUST turn your written answers in at the beginning of the class to participate.*** (TGH staff can borrow books from Nurse Managers.)

REQUIRED CHAPTERS:
Antepartum-Postpartum completes Chapters 1 - 4 and 7.
Labor and Delivery completes Chapters 1 - 4, 6 and 7.

Come prepared to take the written evaluations and to perform the interventions in an individual Mega Code, which will be applicable to your clinical practice area. Performance interventions are based on AHA & AAP Guidelines for neonatal resuscitation.  

OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this class, the participant will be able to:
> Perform skills, in a mock code simulation, required for neonatal resuscitation demonstrating AAP and AHA standards.
> Demonstrates knowledge of theoretical concepts and evidence-based data required for resuscitation of a neonate by achieving a passing score on each required written assessment.
