Second semester of a basic health education course. Topics: mental and emotional health; relationships; human growth and development; sexuality and STIs; HIV and AIDS; drug abuse; consumer and environmental health; and injury prevention and public safety, including CPR. One assignment requires the student to videotape him- or herself giving an informational speech, which will be scored using the Oregon Department of Education Speaking Official Scoring Guide rubric. An Oregon high school may consider this work sample eligible for the student's academic portfolio. 8 assignments, 1 exam
