Fundamentals of Addiction, January 25 - March 21, 2010
This eight-week course offers an overview of addiction for practitioners in the fields of health, education, security or social services and for anyone who would like to work in those fields. The course covers the definition of addiction; common psychoactive drugs and their effects; drug-use patterns and treatment needs among diverse client populations; key strategies in screening, assessment and treatment referral; and key concepts in health promotion, prevention and harm reduction.
