Fundamentals of Mental Health, January 25 - March 21, 2010
This eight-week course offers an overview of mental health for practitioners in the fields of health, education, security and social services and for anyone seeking a career in these fields. The course defines mental health and illness and covers health promotion; the mental status examination; Ontario’s Mental Health Act; the value of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) in assessing mental health problems; and the symptoms, prevalence, causes and treatment options for mood disorders, anxiety disorders and schizophrenia.
