Object-Oriented Programming using Visual Studio.NET
This course introduces you to the basic principles underlying the practice of object-oriented programming. The concepts and principles in this course are presented in a generic manner, and as such are intended to prepare you for programming in virtually any object-oriented programming language. In this course, you will learn how to work with the IDE Windows in Visual Studio .NET to create different .NET project types.
  • Explain what constitutes an object-oriented approach to programming and identify the potential benefits of object-oriented programming over other approaches.
  • Describe the following aspects of object-oriented programming: objects classes, sub-classing, inheritance, polymorphism.
  • List and describe the steps and critical attributes involved in a good software project plan.
  • List and describe key attributes of software analysis and design tools and methodologies.
  • Briefly describe the general benefits of using an object-oriented approach to developing windowed applications, including the use of application frameworks and class libraries.
  • Briefly describe the general benefits of using an object-oriented approach to developing Web applications.
  • Perform the steps necessary to create a simple Windows Forms project, Web Forms project and Web Services project and to interact with a database in a Windows Forms project.
  • View and compare Visual Basic .NET and C#.NET code and recognize the differences between the approaches of each language. Prerequisite: Introduction to Programming using Visual Basic .NET or equivalent knowledge.
